LET’S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT ‘CAUSE MY TEETH ARE NOT “Reden ist Gold. Schweigen ist Silber. Foltern ist Platin.” Some things can be fixed with money. But we all know that fool’s gold is tainted love. Growing into each other is a bush of sculptures. An entanglement of booklets. A messy room, where things turn up somewhere else again. There's repetition in it, going as far as into the pictures. An honest ambiguity in the misplacement of subjects, shining light on a new potential like a room raider with an UV light. The books came from a place of _____ in a time of distance, they were handed over to others, pals’ paws - a gift to be used. From the private, intimate and personal, this unstinting sharing and invitation to participate, extended to the concept of the exhibition itself. notebooks, booklets Inspired by Wintersteins booklets, seemingly being more objects than pantings, six large format tableaus in vibrant colours, full of playfullness, energy and lust, were produced together by Berlin and Düsseldorf based artists Alex Winterstein and Lena Mai Merle. Chained to the wall like skins on rings. Like skinned book covers, the fake fur of friends. Memorials to rest in power not in peace, no one shall be left in peace in this life.
