Between you and me

From 3rd December to 8th January Janis Löhrer’s Exhibition “Between you and me” is showing in the art space of the AURA Kunstraum. Here we can find homoerotic scenes and intimate depictions by Janis Löhrer, characterised by ink drawings on canvases and works on paper in a state of process. Hanging on a washing line is a huge pair of men’s underpants, seemingly evolved out of the dream-like tales and loosely interconnected pictures. Also hanging from the line in the centre of the room is the drawing on paper of an officer smoking. He appears surrounded by deep-blue drawings of nebulous figures on a starkly white background. On closer inspection the canvases show complexly interweaving tales of figures and objects, prompting one to reflect on about lewdness, one’s personal experiences and attendant feelings of lust and shame. The enormous snow-white ribbed underpants create a sense of flaunting something out of a private domain and which evokes different associations together with the pictures. A dialogue between a washing line, subjective awareness and pictures of private life...between you and me.
