Works exhibited in Perishable apprehend much of our post-lockdown uncertainties. Concurrent themes of distance and intimacy run through the show in this coming together of people and artworks from Paris, Seoul, Glasgow and London. Perishables was curated by Aeji Seo and Antonio Parker-Rees. It showcases works by Adam Leech, Siri Black, Maya Levy, Harry Roberts, Joe Habben, Orla Kane, Roisin Rowe, Antonio Parker-Rees and Aeji Seo.Text
The show' Perishable' tries to make sense of these new settings, where a bed becomes an office and night club becomes a petri dish. In this restructuring of everyday life, (which not long ago would seem the contents of a sci-fi film) boundaries between the personal and public become hazy and complicated. Perishables seeks to capture the sentiments of this time, where people are increasingly isolated yet codependent, displaced and far flung yet resilient, where relationships are ever more reliant on new communicative systems and technologies.
