10N is a collaborative project space, focusing on Brussels based artists. Launched in November 2020, 10N provides an arena for exploration, empowering artists to forge new partnerships and encouraging the expansion of their discourse in a 1950’s villa in Uccle - outside the traditional white cube.
For its seventh chapter, Jérôme Nicod invited French artist Pierre Clément and Maarten Van Roy, based in Brussels, to collaborate. The result, Shannon’s Law, combines new work of both artists, sharing an interest in processes of growth and decay, both natural and digital and their actual proximity. A series of Van Roy’s unique cire-perdue bronze casts, three-dimensional stills of a thermodynamical shock, are combined with Clement’s counter-objects, consisting of technological props and multiple layers of matter and representational scientific information. Beyond post-humanist aesthetics, the artist’s practices grant us a prospective metaphysical reflection on our ecosphere.
