In his first solo museum exhibition, the artist Stefan Vogel takes possession of the west wing of the Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz, which he completely restages like a stage: The visitor enters the existing halls as novel spatial landscapes and thus encounters the formerly neutral museum space in an atmospheric all-over setting. Vogel's spatial constructions are accompanied by neon works and images that are as much characterised by concrete poetry as by his interest in a specific material aesthetic. The focus is on questions of memory culture and pictorial memory. At the same time, through a variety of robust interventions with building materials and everyday objects, the artist breaks with the expectations placed on a nobilising museum space. The exhibition is being created in close cooperation with Stefan Vogel and is part of a series of exhibitions by the artist initiated by the Overbeck Society of the Kunstverein Lübeck.
