Intervention #31: Laureates of Jindřich Chalupecký Award 2021

The international jury selected five visual artists under the age of 35 for the 32nd Jindřich Chalupecký Award 2021. Robert Gabris, Jakub Jansa, Valentýna Janů, Anna Ročňová and the artistic non-team of Björnson (Nik Timková, Zuzana Žabková, Lucie Svoboda Mičíková, Lucia Kvočáková, Tamara Antonijević and Tanja Šljivar) won the title of laureates. After the exhibition at the Moravian Gallery in Brno, visitors of the Regional Gallery Liberec can now also get acquainted with this representative selection of contemporary Czech and Slovak art. The Jindřich Chalupecký Award exhibitions are usually a probe into topics based on the individual experiences of specific artists, their creative practices and content, which they have chosen to share, but also reflect more general issues resonating across the art scene. The exhibition presentation of the CJCH 2021 laureates in the building of the former spa partially repeats the projects that were created last year, supplemented by works of art of an earlier date, on the basis of which some of the winners were selected for the Award. In addition to the installation in the usual exhibition space on the 2nd floor of the gallery, this time the curators of the Jindřich Chalupecký Society also selected several places in the permanent collections of the Regional Gallery Liberec, where the works are set in the form of a literal intervention, creating dialogue and confrontation with works from earlier historical periods.
