The Dry Reeds are Burning, a Fresh Shoot is Already Growing

In Anna Taradina's series of works, each object represents the cycles of decay and rebirth, repetition and interruption. Her practice reflects the traditional crafts of Slobozhanshchyna, the region where she grew up, and combines manual labour with industrial materials. These works invite us to reflect on the relationship between traditional crafts and industry, between personal memory and collective history, between that which is fragile and that which stands the test of time. The hemp yarn evokes the tradition of textile making - it is soft yet resilient, while the metal, malleable and heavy, is transformed into flourishing forms. It is a story about nature in motion and the artistic practice that captures this movement. It is about the past that leaves is mark and the present that weaves it anew.
