Aut-OOO-Arcadia is a solo exhibition by artist Louis Morlæ at Somerset House, London
Morlæ’s series of new works explore the implications of automation and robotics on the not-so-distant future, where social structures such as employment, leisure and labour conditions are on the verge of upheaval and change. Through robotic sculptures, video and interactive multimedia, the exhibition reflects on ideas of redundancy, advertising a post-work future as a supposed ‘fully automated arcadia’. Aut-OOO-Arcadia playfully suggests an image of how humans might step into a new mode of living alongside intelligent technology.
The exhibition sees the exhibition space act as both a window into this potential future and an archival site for technological progress. In an era where much of our engagement with technology feels intangible - hidden in algorithms and data streams - Morlæ’s sculptures serve as a reminder of the tactile, intertwining nature and technology to depict a vision at once familiar and uncanny.
Open at Somerset House, London until 30th March, 2025
