In a pool I dived into with a smile
I found only the plastic bottoms of the floor
Before I fall back
I must recite certain anthems and uniforms
Amid the bleeding of the color red
Up through the white stripes
At least the lines and blues of the papers
Scattered cursors in between
Can you hold me as I keep watch outside for you
The sheer nakedness of the sky sometimes white
The green and that place
Holding my hands making me spell out
This or that
Thoughts lined up in my mind like a rank in height
Moving towards the evening without raising a hand
With only one problem left to speak
Flowing down my throat
Among the lands I have reaped
Animals shattered in the bright eyed glow of the night
Let the drought leave behind
The softness I plunge my hand into
Waiting to swallow me whole
Perhaps all together
Our lips utter only a single word
Without holding on and apart
In the exhibition (Congratulations), Deniz Kulaksızoğlu delves into themes such as school memories, the longing for freedom, and the hazy realm of pre-creation. Each work seeks its path through this triad, moving fluidly between revisiting school memories, abandoning the pursuit of specific recollections, and merging different points in time past, present, and even future. In a space, where time fragments and scatters, we encounter the ever-changing, ambiguous body of desire. Perhaps it can be said that Kulaksızoglu is searching for a fountain, an oasis in an arid yet boundless landscape. Yet, whether the water is a promise of renewal or the land an endless mirage, remains elusive.
