Oracular Workout

Oracular Workout Célia Picard & Hannes Schreckensberger Exhibition, September 30 – December 19, 2021 Save-haven values, hygiene and self-promotion infuse each of the domestic cells of the Oracular Workout exhibition, presented by Célia Picard and Hannes Schreckensberger. Between mystical aspirations and sporting discipline, the exhibition space of Mécènes du Sud Montpellier-Sète is transformed into a "show apartment" furnished with gymnastic apparatus, draperies and appliances, vectors of a quest that is both personal and societal. Just as modernist architectures a century ago sought to stem major diseases like tuberculosis by developing strong bodies through exercise and exposure to the sun, this bubble seems to prepare physically and mentally its occupant a hostile and competitive exterior. The hollow body is both an armor and a showcase. The Jungle Gym, structure to push and to lift, the Whey Bar, fountain of youth, and, the Solarium, interface with the outside, are the altars of this closed world. The exhibition is a production of Mécènes du Sud Montpellier-Sète and is supported by Forum Culturel Autrichien Paris.
