With 21 drawings and 3 sculptures, Cervio Martini brings the horrifying (and still practiced) Chhaupadi ritual to our gallery.
-From Wikipedia: Chhaupadi is a form of menstrual taboo which prohibits Hindu women and girls from participating in normal family activities while menstruating, as they are considered "impure". Chhaupadi is said to be practiced primarily in the western part of Nepal, but the same is true for city dwellers also.
During chhaupadi, women are banned from the house and are made to live in a cattle shed, or a makeshift dwelling known as a menstruation hut, for the duration of their period. Childbirth in Nepal also results in a similar form of confinement. During menstruation, women and girls are restricted from participating in everyday life events, and from interacting with their communities.-
So, as some kind of artistic vengeance, the artist tries to twist these girl´s reality while in the ritual.

A
I felt the earth, felt the time, the sky was blue ´come, normalize´.Then I got the urge for penetration.
When we meet wrap your arms around me, tell me all those things you haven’t told me
In the crowd i'll find you on your lapel there’s a red carnation.
All the things that’s left to do: feel love and build a house with you.
Come free the unborn child at the castle.
B
Hear my troubles of mine, can you take me for one last ride?
I want to bend my soul again, that's what we do when we get older
C
Where's your troubled mind? You've got your money and you got them 'cause others just can't.
There's the lottery about geography.
Don't know the hand you're holding, paying someone to put them to bed again
D
Hear my love sigh: I've got a story that money just can't buy, Western standards, poverty's profitable.
E
What a difference a little difference would make!
F
Don't leave me now, don't fall asleep, we need to rest sometimes but don't take long; i's something in system that still circulates, we'll dig a hole in the backyard and drain the blood.
