The title of the exhibition “Might Go To Bern Later” of Berlin based artist David Schiesser refers on the one hand to his journey to the Sattelkammer in Bern. On the other it also reflects a central part of his work: the tracking of topological similarities between us and the worlds consistency around us. In doing so he elaborates on the real and virtual connections of human beings, who stretch the corporal boundaries through technological enhancements. In his linear drawings taught and accustomed perspectives are estranged, the viewer is confronted with totally new strategies of representation. Schiesser uses immersion as an aesthetic principle, which aims at the production of a special kind of immediacy, effectively the submerging into a body-landscape instead of its viewing from a distance. Before he left on the journey to Bern, he went over the train route on Google Earth. The screen as a train window of the future. It arises the question what the borders of depiction are. The image, the one we make ourselves and its blending of the digital, expectations and vague knowledge.
The conception of the overalls was made in collaboration with Irina Hefner.
