Basel – Part 1
a SELECTIF Skype Conversation
While Laphora was busy planning her future, Bijou caught an Easyjet to Basel and went straight to the fair. The night before Bijou slept just for 2 hours and had to quit her basic diet in turn for many energizing coffees. Laphora couldn’t sleep that much either, partly because she was so excited to hear all the news from the art world.
Laphora: Okay, Bijou, you look great, amazing to see you. But now you have to tell me everything.
Bijou: Oh, Laphora. I don’t know where to start. It was overwhelming. So many interesting people. I only met 5 people I really know, 2 of them are curators though. Also, I had the bluest bike, that was super perfect to get around. But actually it rained a lot, super annoying. I mean, when switching between all the different spots you had to run because of all the water coming down. There is a river in Basel, too. Did you know that? It has such a nice curve. And a very specific color these days…
L: In TV I watched some youtube videos on the Art Basel. There was also free food, right? That’s very thoughtful of them because the prices for grocery are super high. Nobody could afford it.
B: True. But I had no time at all for eating. Luckily, I found a package of Stimorol chewing gums. Saved my day. You know, I had a surprisingly nice small talk and didn’t blush at all. Stimorol gave me the fresh attitude I needed.
L: That sounds like you needed relaxation afterwards. Last year there was this nice turf installation right next to the entrance of the Unlimited. Have you laid down there?
B: No time at all for that. I just had quick snack outside, I brought my vegan chocolate and some rice crackers with olive taste, and hung out a bit on a wood installation. The Unlimited is such a Blockbuster. There was a huge queue in front of some blue light. Blue – that’s everywhere. But there was a piece of one of my teenage heros – Christo – he made these shop window installations in the 60s. Such a pioneer.
L: He’s my hero too. I always have to think of Calvin Klein when thinking about him.
B: Later, I went to the Swiss Art Awards. Such a crappy presentation. But people smelled very nice there, very complex perfume. Also some hotties were joining me for the video installation.
L: I’m so jealous. That sounds fun! Talk later, I have to prepare for my future now.
B: Alright. I’ll get some ice tea. Btw, I found out it’s solstice AND International Yoga Day. Take care **xoxo
