Father Earth Mother Sky
Heavy heart fell up the sky
shoulders buried down the sand
streams of yearning hands
beats of looking eyes
lovers immersing under
soft land
long stretching lines
through dots of fingertips
rounded shapes
sharp corners
smiling clouds
dropped my jaw
Hands reaching down
Feet rising up
Curling signs
Symmetric motion
flying in the wind
father earth mother sky
The space of the exhibition of Israeli artist Ruti de Vries (1989) is filled with figures. Their individual monumental personality, or their suspicious mission, can be read from accessories of clothing or surprisingly pitiful objects, which are of course held in the hands of passers-by. In this disparate, yet matching group, there is also a sewn image of a mishandled Diskist. Disc - black dot, is present in various modifications and names in all author's exhibitions. Still open eye, mole or bouncing ball. A toy that escaped, a spilled bearing, simply an object driven by its own laws of physics, which we cannot catch. His echo in a perfectly controlled rhythm guides us through space and our looking eyes intuitively await in the desire to locate him. Up down. Knock knock knock and hollow plop here and there when it hits the cavity in the floor and soft, indecent sssp, probably carpet in the way. Or body...? The rhythm that is faster the more its end is near. A budget that sounds like finger pointing and a nursery rhyme. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor, Rich Man, Poor Man,... Budgeting as the rhythm of a poem, like finding the center of gravity, like making decisions, like looking for roles. Father, Earth, Mother, Sky.
