Here, now. Forever? Performance in Düsseldorf #3 Nicholas Grafia
Performance Script (Sketch), to be enacted in 2019:
„It’s 10PM (Do You Know Where Your Children Are?)“:
It took you a while and you came back with debts.
I went with a smile and I came back undead.
You spend your weekends in the woods hunting for things like us…
Hunty, you think like us…
Little you knew ’bout us that…
„Years of hiding, have made us flexible and clever.“ (cf. The Accursed Ones, 2018)
A, B & C:
We don’t walk around in parks no more.
We seek shelter in the memory of your phone.
Phone….Phone…Kevin’s phone alone. [Rhythmic electronic dialing sound]
I‘m fucking homesick and I’m fucking you. [Addresses the audience]
Broke straight boys. Tommy…Defendi…something…someone has got to pay the bills, right?
[Entry of the parents; very moralist demeanor ]
[A desperate and lengthy explanation follows of why B did college and hustling simultaneously. The parents just look at B with a blank face. As B goes on with his monologue, the parents one after the other just literally fall to the ground like the fragile columns they always represented within the family.]
[Parent I & parent II‘s monologues on their individual struggles in order to make it to the place in which they find themselves in now, and their hopes for their offspring, are played out loud one after another.
The audio track situates the times and social contexts in which, according to their opinions, they seem to be living. While talking, they contort their bodies into the shape of an embryo or someone who was kicked in her/his stomach.]
[entry — two drunk boys fighting; tumbling through the room and eventually making out on a sofa].
[A & B start to glue their ribs together]
How to fix?
How to fix?
How to fix?
