Subheadline

In October, Matthieu Hemmer’s work was the subject of a solo exhibition I see you in dissolution invited by Manuel Vieillot at the Bagnolet new art center near Paris. The other previous personal exhibitions have taken place in Paris at the Framboise gallery (2020), at Hélène Delprat's studio (2020) and at the butcher's room invited by Roy Konhke (2018). He has participated in collective exhibitions such as Tendre Jeudi in 2018 invited by Thierry Leviez at Confort Mental Paris, Neighborhood invited by Anne-Lou Vicente in 2020, Nuages Electriques at la Transversale Bourges this summer and Goodbye Horses invited by Mélanie Bouteloup at Poush Paris in June 2021.

Text

I see Matthieu experimenting with paintings since the days of the fine arts when he laced canvases and climbed slides inside the studio. I saw him raise a couple of ducks and train brambles, I saw him immerse stars in liquid glass and paint the walls raspberries. I see him continue to hold ambiguous positions and play with truths, play with signs and speeches. I see him at home then sticking to the sidelines. I see him still and always dreaming of fresh grass and wet chemistry. Colors that will be. I thought it was about time you saw this too.
