agency accessories During a one-month fellowship residency in the summer of 2021, the artist began to mold organic structures from the living environment and transfer them to a carrier material, raising them to the level of the concept of ornament in order to question existing hierarchies and orders in the context of human perception of the living environment. The concept of ornament is a central component of the work and becomes a sign that generates an unlimited number of resonances. Alex Besta transfers the organic impressions into an overall composition that moves between rigidity, preservation and a breaking out of the involuntarily given forms. The organic structures of the bark beetle larvae rise up, become autonomous and begin to produce themselves instead of being conserved and reproduced.
