Natural Access by Vincent Scheers at Lucky, Inning am Ammersee. Part of the residency program "Peripheral Alliances" initiated by Kunstverein München.Text
Vincent Scheers (1990) studied printmaking (BA) and fine arts (MFA) at the royal academy of Antwerp.
He is currently studying sculpture in the class of Alexandra Bircken (AdBK Munich).
The central topics in his practice revolve around the elements of risk and failure within established structures.
Plants and animals, here understood as marginalised beings in human culture, tend to perform criminal actions within Scheers’s sculptures.
His pieces often suggest magically humorous scenarios, as for instance a duck flying the coop with a stolen bicycle.
Behind these supposed jokes, however, there figuratively lies spicy criticism of social inequality of opportunities.
About the project-space :
We assume there was a horse called Lucky, who lived here before we did.
Taking on this loaded name, we are determined to maintain it with the best intentions.
Henceforth, Lucky will host art & everyone who appreciates to look at it, stick around, or engage in whatever way. As a newly founded artist-run space situated in the outskirts of Munich, Lucky aims to provide the opportunity to extend artists' & curators' acts outside familiar landscape or formal contexts. Under the roof of the residency program Peripheral Alliancesinitiated by Kunstverein München, the site will serve as a testing ground for artistic practice and continuously foster research, discussion and production for a deliberately picked range of exhibitions.
