Determine our behavior in the world of things. They are what appeals to our imagination and our memory of experience. The superficial is what can be immediately grasped, what is quickly revealed – so it seems. The dissolution of fixed contours and the complex examination of material qualities and surface textures are the essence of the works of Bettina Scholz and Konrad Hanke. They play with the object character and make the surface an essential reference point. The narratives of the sources of inspiration become diffuse scenarios, which allow what is depicted to slide into other levels of association for the recipient. In SHINING, the artists* give us the opportunity to expand our aesthetic experiences, for which today there is hardly any speculative space left.
