Through moving image, performance and text, Juliette Lizotte experiments with roleplaying as a strategy to make visible the relationship between artwork and audience. Through the inherited forms of roleplaying games (e.g. choose-your-own-adventure books), her work gives the audience the opportunity to decide on certain dynamics of the narrative. Roleplaying as a critical reflection of the individualizing routines of neoliberalism, but also as a creator of empathy.
‘Sisters of the Wind’ manifests this use of roleplaying as an artistic strategy, inviting the audience to become a community of witches that survive in a society doomed by a natural catastrophe. May you join the sisterhood?
