In its way of taking on the influence of the past (Sicilian baroque aesthetics, the sacred, the flowery, the exaggeration of the beautiful), Vincenzo Zancana does not directly address issues related to the history of art e to the heaviness of ancient movements. It focuses on the topicality of this aesthetics, its current contest and the absurdity of its intertwining in the landscape of our society. The fetishism and sensuality evident at first glance are just a filter that appears to theviewers, while the second layer reveals an attachment much stronger to pure form, to matter, freeing them from any support semantic. A hook, a fixing bracket, a chain, a plate of plexiglass, threaded rods, etc., are suspension systems that become, through the transformation that the artist makes of them, an integral part of the presented work, while the artwork itself is rebalanced to the level of object. The work at the center then becomes the very support of an idea, the support of itself. With this manipulation, the subject moves towards the object. Subject-object / object-subject finds itself in the treatment of the artwork presented in his installation at the Spazio Bidet, but also in the subject same as the 3 drawings displayed in the center of the exhibition. The fusion of elements of furniture (lamps, stools, chairs, tables, bottle racks) transforms each other objects into subjects for their loss of usefulness. Considered only for their formal, almost anthropomorphic qualities, these relocated subjects in the installation they once again become objects composed of a single subject: the object. Object as ritual, object of attachment and support, useful object and decorative object, fetish object, art object and subject.
