The memory is now in the back. The present is overflowing. Once again, a museum becomes an archive, an archive becomes oblivion. The former „Ennsmuseum“ in Upper Austria is now closed. The cultural-historical collection was forgotten in the rooms, as were the stories. They lie in boxes, waiting in layers. Under each layer the next view, asleep until the day after tomorrow. Abundance meets emptiness. Forgetting is pressing. Things have accumulated. Time passes more slowly here. The stories that are still to be told, must be told. A selection of young contemporary artists from different fields reflect on the hidden history of the museums objects within their own work. Dialogues, reactions and shared narratives emerge. Artist meets archive. The starting point was a selection of objects from the museums collection. Each artist got an artifact. Further, the artists reacted to the respective artifact with an artistic work, imagined and formed its history - complementary to the actual historical events. The exhibition reshaped memories is about moments of memory and visualization. About the tension between reality and fiction as an associative process, as well as the need to remember. The works have taken on a life of their own. While the museum sleeps, the fictions remain. A dialogue between past, present and speculative future. The future conceived in the plural. The museum leaves, the memory remains in a new space.
