The exhibition space "Luna" at Internet Moon Gallery presents the project "Bona ploguda" by Valencian artist Pepet. The exhibition, titled after a phrase used in the villages of Valencia to express farmers' gratitude for the much-needed rain in the fields and crops, delves into an artistic exploration that merges family history, work in the fields, and political critique. Inspired by Christophe Farnarier's documentary "El somni", which follows the last transhumant journey of a herder, Pepet has found deep connections with his own past and the experiences passed down through generations in his hometown. In his quest to materialize these ideas, Pepet has created an installation that represents a transhumant refuge, using materials collected from his surroundings. Among them, the branches of the Persimmon tree stand out, as his family was forced to cut down their plantation because the fruits did not meet the market's size requirements and standards. Additionally, the artist has gathered soil from his own field, as well as debris from old constructions that were abandoned in favor of new housing developments. Symbolically, he has also incorporated beams from train tracks, evoking how government infrastructures such as roads and railways have impacted the expropriation of farmland and the transit of livestock. "Bona ploguda" invites reflection on the relationship between humans, nature, agriculture, and the policies that affect rural communities. The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the vital importance of primary sector work and the significance of caring for the countryside while highlighting the difficulties and tensions they face in their daily labor. The "Bona ploguda" exhibition will take place at “Luna” (Dr. Perez Feliu 7, Valencia, Spain) from June 17th to August 20th. The exhibition will be open to the public by appointment. Hailing from the town of Benifaio, his childhood in an agricultural environment has greatly influenced his artistic production, where the people and traditions of his surroundings have left a significant mark. Pepet seeks to represent and capture the essence of everything that surrounds him, including the purity of the elements that shape his environment, whether it be the fields, the agricultural tools used for tilling the land, the animals, or even death. His artistic activity takes on meaning in the manifestation and defense of the importance of agriculture as a fundamental basis for human subsistence. About Internet Moon Gallery: "Luna" is a physical exhibition space that emerges as an extension of Internet Moon Gallery, a digital platform created by artist and curator Manuel Minch in 2016. Internet Moon Gallery is an experimental virtual space that promotes unpublished and site-specific projects in virtual reality and 360-degree spaces, basing its exhibition calendar on lunar cycles. Located at Carrer de Dr. Perez Feliu 7, Valencia, "Luna" aims to foster local connections and explore the thresholds of contemporary creation through the realization of site-specific works. Operating both as a workshop and an exhibition environment, "Luna" provides artists with the opportunity to develop projects specific to the location and experiment with the capabilities of the space and workshop.
