"Sometimes I touch my tongue to make sure it's still there. I crave an urgent way of saying." These words, in which the tongue embraces the letter, are extracts from the text written by artist Ash Love, printed on towels for the body of work - both an installation and a performance - Grosse Eponge.
« Grosse Eponge (‘Big Sponge’) was born as a text, with some drafts dating back from 2013, then as a form, an installation to be performed with the people sharing my everyday life. Grosse Eponge traces a line between the pumping shape of the heart, spongious feelings and a material that both absorbs liquids and dries out. » writes the artist. Producing both perceptual and verbal exploration, Grosse Eponge allows the text to be read in random orders as much as to soak up various summer fluids : tears, perspiration, saliva, blood, wine or the water from the lake of Geneva. Liquids can all be pumped through bodies and hearts
