Under the motto HEILUNG, conceptual artist Christian Kölbl has opened a pharmacy in the project space. The remedies on offer in the Christian Kölbl Apotheke transcend traditional medicine and inject the progressive HEALING promise of art as well as its risks and side effects into society. For example, Kölbl takes the renowned theory magazine Texte zur Kunst as a template to create his own waiting room magazines in the medium of painting. The forced intellectualization of Texte zur Kunst meets the forced entertainment of Apothekenumschau. For all those for whom colors on canvas do not promise enough HEILUNG, the artist, in collaboration with the perfumer Christopher Pickel, offers a home-brewed tincture in the form of his own interpretation of the legendary Cologne classic 4711 - Eau de Cologne. Christopher Pickel: "When creating drogues de cologne, I wanted to strike a balance between a fragrance that evokes a narcotic sensation while retaining the DNA of traditional eau de cologne. To honor the title, the traditional top note is replaced by a fully synthetic frequency that focuses on a nasal numbing sensation yet can be defined as citrusy, spicy. Following this concept, I create a narcotic, biter atmosphere with the fragrances Ambrocenid and Nerlione, wrapped in illegal powders and crushed pills. Finally, safraleine and musk set the composition into chemical, metallic vibration and throw on the smock of an active laboratory."
