Uroboros

The Uroboro is a symbol, generically a serpent or a dragon, that bites its own tail forming a circle with no beginning or no end: a circle that is no longer a circle, defining itself as indefinite and indistinct, becoming a trace of the contemporaneity. A fog envelops the present, a dark mist descends upon faces: sight blurs, meanings become lost, forms blend and categories crumble. Everything that was stable, certain, and secure slowly dissolves, it collapses; even the floor upon which our shoes, our feet rested collapses. It vanishes and we plummet. "But falling does not only mean falling apart". The fall is, then, perhaps, a journey towards new spaces, new times, and new worlds. The works of Katya Ohii, Giuseppe Salis, Lorenzo Conforti, and Gregorio Vignola fully capture and inhabit the dark mist of our times. Inspired by an imagery between science fiction and mysticism, the works become metamorphic organisms oscillating between the future and the archaic, living in the loss of form in the present as much as in the suggestion of possible future forms.
