About The exhibition at Longtermhandstand Hall in Budapest is the fifth edition of the HARSH exhibition series titled INRI, featuring Tudor Ciurescu, HARSH Collective and Tim Plamper. Tudor Ciurescu’s Dustulator engages with the potent theme of symbols and their influence, particularly those tied to authority and tradition. The sculpture, shaped as a cross-like, unusable chair, evokes a tension between functionality and form. This design is deeply personal, rooted in the artist's family history of Orthodox priests, spanning generations. Ciurescu's childhood association of the cross with fear and power is manifest in this piece. By rendering the chair deliberately "un-sittable," the work conveys his fraught relationship with symbols of authority and their oppressive weight. Through this sculptural intervention, Ciurescu challenges the viewer to reflect on the complex interplay between tradition, power, and personal experience. "Exit II" is a ten-part film cycle focused on video works that delve into the psychological and political aspects of the underworld. Combining a spoken narrative with dreamlike visuals, often drawn from personal recordings, it explores themes of trauma, loss, violence, and love. It raises questions about identity, motivation, fear, and societal irrationality. By examining the symbolic realm, the project suggests that art offers insights beyond crisis management, inspiring long-term visions of resilience and hope.
