Through the keyhole

Starting on September 12, The Breeder Studyroom will feature Dimitris Gketsis, who presents an installation that delves into his artistic process and creative universe. This immersive space serves as a personal narrative, where Gketsis explores themes that both concern and inspire him, showcasing works and materials from various stages of his creative journey. The exhibition offers glimpses into the research, preparation, and production that define Gketsis' distinctive style. Drawing inspiration from the Renaissance studiolo, Gketsis crafts a space rich in aesthetic detail, filled with personal materials that contribute to his artistic practice. This interpretation of the artist’s studio includes moulds, notes, references, ready-mades, sound clips, and completed works, such as his wall metal sculptures. His work is structured around recurring themes of mythology, alchemy, storytelling, and imaginary hybrid bodies, extending to an exploration of contemporary social issues, particularly within a post-colonial and patriarchal context. The Breeder Studyroom is an initiative that designates a specific space within the gallery for each participating artist to create a personal studyroom. This project aims to provide artists with the opportunity to share aspects of their creative process with the public, offering insight into their references, studio objects, and parallel projects or experiments. Dimitris Gketsis (1993) graduated from Athens School of Fine Arts in 2016 while he was studying in Akademie der Bildenden Kunst, Munich.
