The exhibition My body is a Temple presents nine artistic positions that question the longing for psychological and physical boundaries of self-care and discipline, in which the body acts as a medium of emotions and identity. The artists examine ritual and manipulative practices as well as physical self-presentation. They reflect on wellness trends in the field of tension between naturalness and artificiality. Places of relaxation such as spas or nail studios are illuminated as temporary sanctuaries. As an industry of body cults, they promise individual healing, detoxifying, or simply aesthetic effects. The group exhibition brings together works that deal with the cult of the body as a cultural practice and illuminate the social spaces formed within the beauty and fitness industries. The exhibition invites visitors to rethink the body as a medium of power, transformation and self-determination.
