Heimspiel 2024

It's time for Heimspiel 2024! Every three years, Heimspiel offers a platform for artists from Vorarlberg, Fürstentum Liechtenstein and the cantons Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Glarus, St. Gallen and Thurgau. The format connects artists and institutions and showcases the region's diverse art scene. This year's edition of Heimspiel takes place in Kunstraum Dornbirn, Kunsthaus Glarus, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, and in the Webmaschinenhalle Werk2 in Arbon and at Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, of course! The exhibition «Uncanny Unchained: The Power of Weird» brings hybrid creatures, eerie silhouettes, sticky textures, and distorted proportions to the Kunst Halle. It is a gathering of the grotesque, celebrating the strange, the uncanny, the extravagant, and the miraculous. We are drawn to things that exist on the fringes of normality. Aliens, monsters, paranormal encounters, insects, myths, and folklore captivate our collective subconscious. But who defines what is 'normal'? Where do our shared notions of the peculiar come from? In the Kunst Halle, works by 22 local and regional artists explore impressions of the bizarre and mystical, inviting you to take a walk through the Uncanny Valley.
