In October last year, Elon Musk announced that in 2024 man will take his first step on Mars.
The book “Project Mars: A Technical Tale” by Wernher von Braun, published in 1953, depicts a leader called an elon leading humanity to the Red Planet. The term elon in von Braun’s book refers to the commander of the Martian colony; it is a title, like a president or a sir. The book was reissued in 2006, so there was a suspicion that the word elon was a later addition, because it was a moment when Elon Musk’s SpaceX was already becoming powerful. The translator of the book was dead and the original manuscript was in the archives, so it was almost impossible to verify that the word elon was part of the original text. Eventually, a redditor managed to visit the archives and photographed the text, giving the world evidence that in von Braun’s original book, written in the 1940s, the leader of Mars was titled with the word elon! The founder of SpaceX proclaimed himself as “Emperor of Mars” temporarily changing his Twitter bio. In von Braun’s book, the concept of predestination appears, according to which the fate of every human being is predetermined by a higher being or genetics. Philosophers still argue whether there is
such a thing as destiny. (͡• ͜ʖ ͡•)
