Magdalena Frauenberg draws on the dumps of history, in the customs of her native Tyrol, from iconography or in stores. She modifies the borrowed and symbolic pieces, adds to them, and combines them into bizarre ensembles that pretend to have an inherent logic... all this with great planning and craftsmanship, ultimately intuitive in its shaping. Convinced feminist, she renounces clear banners and simple statements.props of a multiform and absurd theater: What leans against the wall there could have just been carried through the streets during a procession, whose skin remains bruised by the iron claws. But who gave his ailing teeth into the sacrificial bowls that digress behind the boots? Who balanced the hat as a black mausoleum on his head? And who had to endure the sound of huge bells?everything is charged with customer and meaning without being comprehensible to the mind.physical interaction as violation in fine-seductive form, conscious or unconscious traditions within families, of groups, communities or genders... these are the motifs that drive Magdalena Frauenberg and for whose exposure she finds aesthetically exciting forms. Rather shrill, than quiet - rather rezent, than discreet - gloomy - humorous.
