Taneli Rautiainen (b. 1983) is known for his works where everyday elements become strange, shaping our image of reality. Rautiainen works with various techniques from sculpture to light and sound. For his solo show at Forum Box Rautiainen has produced four new large-scale works. In the first exhibition hall is the work Untitled (Rain Roof) (2024). The work is a 4.4 m x 4.4 m corrugated tin roof that hangs horizontally at a height of 2.5 meters in the middle of the exhibition hall. The 16-square-meter central part of the roof is divided into 16 squares, each of which has a presence detector and a loudspeaker attached. The viewer initiates the sound of the work, and the sound follows them as they move under the roof. Interactive sound design: Matias Harju. In the lobby is the work Untitled (Endless Column) (2024). In the piece, 20 twelve-liter tin buckets are placed on top of each other, so that every other bucket is upright and every other upside down. The handles have been removed from the buckets and the handle holders have been fitted with nuts that connect the buckets to each other. In the second exhibition hall is the work Untitled (Glass Wall) (2024). The piece is a free-standing metal stand with a total of twelve 1 m x 1 m glass panels in two rows. The glasses have been broken and the broken pieces of glass have been attached to each other with lead-free tin. In the furthest exhibition space awaits a surprise. A vestibule has been built around the hall's doorway, from which the visitor enters the dark space. From the entrance there is a distance of approximately 4 meters to the metal wires that prevent further access. The piece has high voltage and is easily breakable. Wires protect the work and the viewer.
