Libidinous drip makes home on lignin veins, acre humidity

Luca Vanello's installation intertwines natural and manmade elements into a magical oasis suspended in time and space. The installation is filled with plants deriving from a site which has been disrupted by human intervention. The artist collected the disposed plants and later processed them by removing the chlorophyll, in this way wishing to evoke a feeling of pausing the energy they carry with them. Taking a closer look, one discovers sculptures made with materials often used in robotics, and shapeless blobs made from hydrophilic matter. As rainwater drips discreetly, the shape of those blobs evolves throughout the exhibition as they absorb moisture from the air and rainfall. The same goes for Vanello’s hint to the future through 3D printed "seeds," that are slowly melting in the humidity to release plant nutrients, dispersing as visitors move through the space. He defies the notion of inertness through the dynamic interaction with climate forces like humidity, light, water, and wind. Through his exploration, Vanello delves into the adaptive responses of materials to their surroundings, blurring distinctions between the living and nonliving.
