MENTAL HOT SPOT
Architecture creates physical spaces for real, haptic experiences. In its accessibility, it defines spatial structures that, as guides, stimulate meaningful but also creative use of themselves. This dynamic generates the possibility of productive access to environments in which life can take place and flourish.
Works of art – whether on their own or in interplay with each other – also create spaces. The exhibition MENTAL HOT SPOT is curated by Tim Plamper and deals with these mental spaces
by exploring alternative approaches to the perception of reality and surroundings. In doing so, the artworks – similar to architectural-spatial landmarks – have the function of a marker to point beyond their physical boundaries. In the vital aesthetic experience, the artworks have a real effect on the development of culture, the society, and our coexistence. In this process, a space unfolds which marks »mental hot spots« on many different levels to stimulate a lively exchange among those present.
